Essential Oil – Palo Santo

This essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from palo santo ("holy wood"), which originates in Peru. This is a 10ml single essential oil obtained through traditional methods, where fallen Bursera graveolens trees are aged for several years before distillation. It has a unique, multidimensional fragrance with deep woody notes, subtly complemented by citrus and sweetness.

Palo Santo: The "Holy Wood"

Palo Santo, meaning "holy wood" in Spanish, is a tree of the Burseraceae family that grows in the coastal regions of Ecuador and Peru in South America. From the time of the ancient Inca civilization, it has been burned in shamanic rituals and prayers, and today, it continues to be cherished as a ceremonial fragrance for purifying spaces in traditional Central and South American cultures. It is sometimes counted as one of the "three classical resin incenses" alongside frankincense and myrrh, and is a popular scent for meditation, yoga, and seasonal rituals.

Fragrance Profile

This unique fragrance is built around woody notes, with delicate freshness from citrus and layers of sweetness reminiscent of milk caramel. It is brighter and lighter than many woody essential oils, and its scent, which evokes the warmth of a damp forest, is different from the "heaviness" of sandalwood or the "dry woodiness" of cedarwood. Its well-balanced nature, allowing it to be used alone or as the star of a blend, is appreciated by aroma practitioners worldwide.

Sustainable Harvesting

Palo Santo is not harvested by felling trees; instead, naturally fallen trees are aged for several to several tens of years before collection, ensuring both depth of fragrance and sustainability. This product also sources its raw materials according to this traditional harvesting method. It is an essential oil that protects forest resources while connecting the tradition of fragrance to the future.

How to Use

1. For room diffusion or aromatic baths: Use 1-3 drops in an aroma diffuser or for direct inhalation. Adjust to your preference.
2. Steam Inhalation: A traditional method where you pour hot water into a mug, add 1 drop, and enjoy the rising aroma.
3. Aroma Bath, Hand Bath, Foot Bath: Mix with a carrier oil or natural emulsifier before adding to the bathwater. Avoid dropping the undiluted essential oil directly into the water.
4. As a Body Oil: Dilute to 1% or less with a carrier oil such as Jojoba Carrier Oil before use.
