A 10mL single essential oil extracted from the leaves and stems of Egyptian rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) using steam distillation. It has a complex fragrance that combines a sweet and elegant floral note reminiscent of roses with an herbaceous green note. Loved worldwide as a substitute for rose and as a standalone ingredient.
An ingredient historically known as "the poor man's rose"
Rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) is a herb in the Geraniaceae family native to South Africa. While possessing a fragrance similar to roses, it was much more affordable than rose essential oil, earning it the nickname "the poor man's rose" and wide use in 19th-century European perfumery. Today, it is re-evaluated not as a rose substitute, but as an independent ingredient with its own unique character, and also plays a supporting role by adding depth to fragrances when blended with rose.

Other floral and related oils to consider
For those who want to experience authentic rose, also consider Fiore D'Oriente's Roll-on Rose Petal (containing Damask Rose x Rose Geranium). For other gorgeous floral options, we recommend Ylang Ylang, and if you want to add citrus, a blend with Bergamot is also recommended.
They are different plants. Rose (Rosa damascena, etc.) is an essential oil extracted from flowers of the Rosaceae family, a rare material for which 2,000 to 3,000 flowers are needed to produce 1g of essential oil. Rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) is an herb of the Geraniaceae family, and is extracted from its leaves. Because its scent resembles that of rose, it is called "the poor man's rose" and has been widely used as a substitute for rose, as well as an independent material.
Can I use it directly on my skin?
Avoid applying undiluted to the skin. Dilute to 1% or less with a carrier oil before using as a body oil or in skincare blends. Do not use if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy.
What times and places do you recommend for burning it?
The sweet, elegant floral fragrance has long been loved for a variety of occasions, such as relaxing times, mornings when you want to set your own pace, or before bed in the bedroom.
How can it be blended with other essential oils?
Rose geranium is a "floral all-rounder" that pairs well with all citrus scents (lemon, bergamot), floral scents (lavender, ylang-ylang), and woody scents (sandalwood, palo santo). When blended with rose essential oil, it can add depth to the rose fragrance while keeping costs down.
