Charcoal Tablets

These specialized charcoal tablets, made by Golden Temple in Italy, are designed for burning resins and dried herbs. They are used when burning resin incenses such as frankincense, myrrh, copal, and benzoin, or powdered/chipped sage and palo santo. They are 33mm in diameter, disc-shaped, with a central indentation that makes it easy to place resins. Each pack contains 10 tablets.

Traditional Way to Enjoy Resin Incense

Since resins themselves do not readily produce smoke when directly exposed to fire, the ancient method used in religious ceremonies, meditation, and purification rituals around the world has been to first heat charcoal and then place resins on top to smolder. In the traditions of Egypt, Greece, Tibet, and the Middle East, this method is an indispensable tool for creating sacred spaces in churches and temples. How to Use

1. Place a charcoal tablet on a heat-resistant dish (such as our smudge plate) and light the edge with a lighter or match.
2. Sparks will spread across the surface in a few seconds, and the entire tablet will ignite. Wait 1 to 2 minutes until it is fully glowing red (the optimal time is when a thin layer of white ash covers the surface).
3. Place a pinch of resin or herbs in the central indentation.
4. Aromatic smoke will rise and last for about 20 to 45 minutes.

Precautions for Use

• Always use on a heat-resistant burner or dish.
• Handle with tongs or a spoon to prevent burns.
• Burn in a well-ventilated area and do not use near pets, children, or flammable materials.
• Allow to cool completely before discarding.

Storage Method

Store in an airtight container, away from moisture. If they absorb moisture, they will be difficult to light.
