Water (with BioAquamide), sulfosuccinate surfactants, cocamidopropyl betaine, coco-glucoside, glycerin, trehalose, algin, sodium hyaluronate, aromatherapeutic essential oil blend (scent-dependent), citric acid, and other plant-derived conditioning agents. How to use

Apply hand soap to wet hands, lather gently, and rinse thoroughly with water. Dry with the Plantia wash towel.

The towel is made by Plantia, the organic cotton brand of Tsubouchi Towel Co., founded in 1928 in Imabari, Ehime — one of Japan's most storied towel-making regions. Their organic cotton is GOTS-certified and sourced significantly from Tanzania through a fair-trade farming project, which mirrors our own commitment to honest, traceable materials.

Is the towel suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. The towel is 100% organic cotton with no synthetic dyes or finishes on undyed pile, making it gentle even for sensitive or reactive skin.

Is the formula biodegradable?
Yes. Our hand soap is formulated to break down naturally without leaving behind harmful residues, in keeping with our commitment to being gentle to the environment as well as the skin.

What does "pile" actually mean?
Pile is simply the looped yarn that gives a towel its softness and absorbency. Terry cloth is built from thousands of small loops standing up from a woven base; that looped yarn is the pile. This set's towel uses "Tanzania cotton 30/1" pile — 30/1-count Tanzanian cotton yarn, a mid-weight thread chosen for a good balance of softness and durability at this compact 33 × 37cm size.

How is the organic cotton grown?
It's grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, through a fair-trade farming project that supports thousands of contracted growing families in Tanzania — no child labour, no unfair exploitation, and compost-based soil care instead of chemical inputs. It's a slower, less efficient way to make a towel than conventional cotton production, and Tsubouchi Towel has chosen it deliberately for almost a century.
